Yes, National Identity Card is very important to get January 2024 Aswesuma payment. It has been said that each aswesuma beneficiaries can withdraw money from the bank only if he/she carries his/her National Identity Card. The National Identity Card is being stressed as a mandatory one.

As the first phase of a social safety net created on a free and fair basis, all beneficiaries currently benefiting from the Aswesuma welfare benefit payment will be required to use a National Identity Card to receive payments through bank accounts from January 2024.
What to do for beneficiaries without NIC?
At present, all the beneficiaries who have not received the National Identity Card have been given an opportunity to go to their respective Divisional Secretariat and get the National Identity Card within two weeks under the priority scheme for "Aswesuma" beneficiaries.
This year, the Welfare Benefits Council has decided to make the National Identity Card mandatory when registering new applicants with the Social Security Information System.
