Job Description:

The Parliament of Sri Lanka is seeking applications from physically sound and morally upright citizens of Sri Lanka for the position of Assistant Serjeant-at-Arms on the staff of the Secretary General of Parliament. The Assistant Serjeant-at-Arms will play a crucial role in maintaining the decorum and security of the parliamentary proceedings.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Educational Qualifications: Possess a degree offered by a University or any other institution recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
• Service Experience: Have a commendable service record of not less than eight years as an Officer in one of the Armed Forces (Regular) or in the Sri Lanka Police Service, holding a rank of not less than Captain in the Army, Lieutenant in the Sri Lanka Navy, Flight Lieutenant in the Sri Lanka Air Force, or Assistant Superintendent of Police.
• Age Limit: Applicants should be between 22 and 40 years of age as of the closing date for applications.

Selection Process:

Candidates will be selected based on the merit of a written test and/or an interview.

Terms and Conditions of Service:

• Appointment: The position is permanent, subject to a three-year probation period. Confirmation of appointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance during the probationary period.
• Pension Entitlement: Pension entitlement will be determined according to future policy decisions by the Government.
• Financial and Departmental Regulations: Selected candidates will be subject to the Financial and Departmental Regulations applicable to the staff of the Secretary General of Parliament.
• Medical Examination: Selected candidates will be required to undergo a medical examination.
• Security Clearance: A Security Clearance Report will be obtained for the selected candidate before their appointment.

Interested candidates should submit their applications prepared in accordance with the provided specimen. Applications should be sent under registered cover, along with copies of educational, higher educational qualifications, and experience certificates, to the Secretary-General of Parliament, Parliament of Sri Lanka, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte. The envelope should clearly indicate the post applied for.

Applications must reach the Secretary-General of Parliament by the specified closing date, which is December 22, 2023.

Note: Original certificates should be produced when called upon to do so. Applications received after the closing date, without relevant certificates, or not sent through the relevant Heads of the Armed Forces or Police Service, will be rejected.
